# Plate functions | OpenStaad Python

> Plate/shell finite elements — add, delete, and query three- and four-node plate incidences. Thickness lives in Plate Thickness & Specifications; pressures in Plate Loads.

Every function is a method of the session `s = ops.connect()` (`from openstaad import ops`).

## Create

### CreateMultiplePlates

**Description**

Creates multiple the plates.

**Parameters**

- `plate_ids` (list): plate ids.
- `plate_incidences` (list): plate incidences.

**Returns**

value: See the official OpenSTAAD API reference for this method's exact return semantics.

**Example**

```python
from openstaad import ops

s = ops.connect()
result = s.CreateMultiplePlates([1, 2], [1, 2])
print(result)
```

### CreatePlate

**Description**

Creates the plate.

**Parameters**

- `nPlateNo` (int): n plate no.
- `nNodeA` (int): n node a.
- `nNodeB` (int): n node b.
- `nNodeC` (int): n node c.
- `nNodeD` (int, optional (default `0`)): n node d.

**Returns**

None: This function does not return a value.

**Example**

```python
from openstaad import ops

s = ops.connect()
s.CreatePlate(1, 1, 1, 1, 1)
```

## Add

### AddMultiplePlates

**Description**

Adds multiple the plates.

**Parameters**

- `incidences` (list): incidences.

**Returns**

raw: The raw return value from the underlying OpenSTAAD COM call. Refer to the official Bentley OpenSTAAD API reference for this method's exact return semantics.

**Example**

```python
from openstaad import ops

s = ops.connect()

### AddPlate

**Description**

Adds the plate.

**Parameters**

- `nNodeA` (int): n node a.
- `nNodeB` (int): n node b.
- `nNodeC` (int): n node c.
- `nNodeD` (int, optional (default `0`)): n node d.

### GetAreaOfPlates

**Description**

Returns the area of plates.

**Parameters**

- `plateList` (list[int]): plate list.

**Returns**

list: A list of numbers (floats).

**Example**

from openstaad import ops

s = ops.connect()
result = s.GetAreaOfPlates([1, 2])
print(result)
```

### GetElementGlobalOffSet

**Description**

Returns the element global off set.

**Parameters**

- `plate_id` (int): plate id.
- `plate_node_index` (int): plate node index.

**Returns**

tuple: A tuple of `float` values, one per output slot.

**Example**

```python
from openstaad import ops

s = ops.connect()
result = s.GetElementGlobalOffSet(1, 1)
print(result)
```

### GetElementMaterialName

**Description**

Returns the element material name.

**Parameters**

- `element_id` (int): element id.

**Returns**

raw: The raw return value from the underlying OpenSTAAD COM call. Refer to the official Bentley OpenSTAAD API reference for this method's exact return semantics.

**Example**

```python
from openstaad import ops

s = ops.connect()
result = s.GetElementMaterialName(1)

### GetGeneratedQuadPanelIncidences

**Description**

Returns the generated quad panel incidences.

**Parameters**

None.

**Returns**

list: A list of values.

**Example**

```python
from openstaad import ops

s = ops.connect()
result = s.GetGeneratedQuadPanelIncidences()
print(result)
```

### GetIsotropicMaterialAssignedPlateCount

**Description**

Returns the isotropic material assigned plate count.

**Parameters**

- `material_name` (str): material name.

**Returns**

**Example**

```python
from openstaad import ops

### GetIsotropicMaterialAssignedPlateList

**Description**

Returns the isotropic material assigned plate list.

### GetLastPlateNo

**Description**

Returns the last the plate no.

### GetNoOfGeneratedQuadPanels

**Description**

Returns the number of the generated quad panels.

**Parameters**

None.

### GetNoOfSelectedPlates

**Description**

Returns the number of the selected plates.

**Parameters**

None.

**Returns**

int: An integer value returned by STAAD.Pro for this call.

**Example**

```python
from openstaad import ops

s = ops.connect()
result = s.GetNoOfSelectedPlates()
print(result)
```

### GetPlateCount

**Description**

Returns the plate count.

**Parameters**

None.

**Returns**

int: An integer value returned by STAAD.Pro for this call.

**Example**

```python
from openstaad import ops

s = ops.connect()
result = s.GetPlateCount()
print(result)
```

### GetPlateIncidence

**Description**

Returns the plate incidence.

**Parameters**

- `plateNo` (int): plate no.

**Returns**

tuple: A tuple of `(int, int, int, int)`.

**Example**

```python
from openstaad import ops

s = ops.connect()
result = s.GetPlateIncidence(1)
print(result)
```

### GetPlateIncidence_CIS2

**Description**

Returns the plate incidence CIS 2.

**Parameters**

- `plateId` (int): plate Id.

**Returns**

tuple: A tuple of `(str, raw)`.

**Example**

```python
from openstaad import ops

s = ops.connect()
result = s.GetPlateIncidence_CIS2(1)
print(result)
```

### GetPlateList

**Description**

Returns the plate list.

**Parameters**

None.

**Returns**

list: A list of integers.

**Example**

```python

result = s.GetPlateList()
print(result)
```

### GetPlateMaterialName

**Description**

Returns the plate material name.

**Parameters**

- `plate_id` (int): plate id.

### GetPlateUniqueID

**Description**

Returns the plate unique ID.

**Parameters**

- `plateNo` (int): plate no.

### GetSelectedPlates

**Description**

Returns the selected plates.

**Parameters**

- `isSorted` (bool, optional (default `False`)): is sorted.

**Returns**

list: A list of integers.

**Example**

```python
from openstaad import ops

s = ops.connect()
result = s.GetSelectedPlates(True)
print(result)
```

## Set/Assign

### AssignMaterialToPlate

**Description**

Assigns the material to plate.

**Parameters**

- `material_name` (str): material name.
- `plate_ids` (list): plate ids.

**Returns**

bool: `True` if the call succeeded, `False` otherwise.

**Example**

```python
from openstaad import ops

s = ops.connect()
result = s.AssignMaterialToPlate("value", [1, 2])
print(result)
```

### SetPlateUniqueID

**Description**

Sets the plate unique ID.

**Parameters**

- `plateNo` (int): plate no.
- `uniqueID` (str): unique ID.

**Returns**

None: This function does not return a value.

**Example**

```python
from openstaad import ops

s = ops.connect()
s.SetPlateUniqueID(1, "value")
```

## Remove

### RemoveMaterialFromPlate

**Description**

Removes the material from plate.

**Parameters**

- `plate_ids` (list): plate ids.

**Returns**

**Example**

### RemovePropertyFromPlate

**Description**

Removes the property from plate.

**Parameters**

- `plate_id` (int): plate id.

**Returns**

### DeletePlate

**Description**

Deletes the plate.

**Parameters**

- `nPlateNo` (int): n plate no.

```

## Select

### ClearPlateSelection

**Description**

Clears the plate selection.

**Parameters**

None.

**Returns**

None: This function does not return a value.

**Example**

```python
from openstaad import ops

s = ops.connect()
s.ClearPlateSelection()
```

### SelectEntitiesConnectedToPlate

**Description**

Selects the entities connected to plate.

**Parameters**

- `entityType` (int): entity type.
- `plateNo` (int): plate no.

**Returns**

None: This function does not return a value.

**Example**

```python
from openstaad import ops

s = ops.connect()
s.SelectEntitiesConnectedToPlate(1, 1)
```

### SelectMultiplePlates
